This is the fourth sermon on God's plan of salvation. Confession is the point where one has heard the word of God, in full faith and conviction believes that God is, that God has spoken, and that Jesus Christ is His Son sent to this world as the offering for our sins. Such faith moves one to turn from sin toward righteousness in repentence. The only thing that remains before being baptized is to declare this faith by confessing in the presence of witnesses that Jesus is the Son of God.
