WORDS AND WORKS
MESSAGE: “Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” (Col. 3:17)
MEANING: The authority and attitude behind our words and works greatly determines whether or not they have the desired effect. Being zealous for good deeds is more than completing tasks. It is honoring Jesus by doing them in a manner consistent with His compassion, perseverance, and respect for God’s commands. We are not to approach our good deeds as undesirable obligations. If we wish to truly be of service to God and our fellow man, we must learn to view opportunities to undertake good deeds with thankfulness.
MOVEMENT: For most people the hardest time to do good in Jesus’ name is when it is toward an enemy. It’s easy to do good deeds for those we have a common bond and interest with. But what about those who stand against you more times than not. Or those who are true enemies? Do something this week to express Christ’s love toward an enemy or one whom stands against you. Minister Christ to them in word or deed.
