DEED$ & DOLLAR$
MESSAGE: “Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share.” (1 Timothy 6:18)
MEANING: The simple truth is that sometimes engaging in good deeds gets expensive! It cost of our time, it cost of our energy, and it cost us our cash! Guess what? God likes it that way, because He is training us. God is teaching us to value doing what is right more than we value any worldly treasure. Only when we generously share our riches do we finally learn that the greatest wealth on earth is to be “rich in good works.” So where will you seek to be rich, in deeds or in dollars?
MOVEMENT: Review your family’s monthly budget and create a “Good Deeds” category. Set aside a specific amount for good works. As opportunities arise in the future you will know how much you can invest. You might even let children pick how to spend the money.
