DEFILED DEEDS

MESSAGE: “To the pure, all things pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.  They profess to know God, but by their deeds they deny Him, being detestable and disobedient and worthless for any good deed.” (Titus 1:15-16).

MEANING: Those saved by God’s grace, washed by Jesus’ blood in baptism, and renewed by the Holy Spirit are pure, but the unbelieving and disobedient are corrupt.  Because their heart, soul, and mind are impure their deeds are worthless.  Deeds done apart from the love of God – no matter how big – are detestable.  They may impress the world, but God sees the pride, hypocrisy, and rebellion of unbelieving hearts.

MOVEMENT: Our deeds are only good if we seek to honor God over self.  Read Matthew 6:1-24 to learn more about pleasing God.
