Some Things We Hope To Accomplish By Our Gospel Meeting

  1. We hope to honor God. We have special days to honor fathers, mothers, veterans, and others. Who is worthy of more honor than the God who created us and all other people and things? In Malachi 1:6-14 we are reminded how the LORD is worthy of honor or praise.  Every time we worship we honor Him and proclaim that He is worthy of praise.

  1. We hope to learn more of His word. His word is a lamp to our feet and a lamp to our way- Psalm 119:105. It is God's revelation and His message- II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21. It can gives us strength to say no to sin- Matthew 4:1-11; Psalm 119:11. It can give us wisdom and insight into life's problems- Psalm 119:97-104. I hope you learn something through the meeting that can help you win someone to the LORD. It can give us strength and encouragement when we do not think that we take another step. Romans 15:4-5 describes God as a God of encouragement and that God can give us encouragement through the Scriptures. Our God who sustains us in difficult times has given Scripture for that purpose.

  1. We hope to build up one another. You and I both need the encouragement that we get from one another. When we come together to worship that gives us the opportunity to encourage and to be encouraged. Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us that this is one of the purposes of our coming together. We are to encourage one another and so much more as we see the day drawing near. Hebrews 3:13 tells us to encourage one another day by day lest any of us be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin- Hebrews 3:13. Your attendance and encouragement at this meeting may make the difference in someone else's salvation.

  1. We hope to save the lost. God rejoices to see lost people saved. He rejoices like a shepherd in finding a lost sheep- Luke 15:3-7. He rejoices like a woman in a finding a precious coin that has been lost- Luke 15:8-10. He rejoices like a father who rejoices when a lost son comes him- Luke 15:11-32. Even if you invite a non-Christian and they choose not to come, you have done your part in inviting them.
